We are always looking to recruit experienced and passionate Security Guards to join our team. As a Static Security Guard, your duty is to protect premises, assets, and personnel by being a deterrent presence to prevent illegal or inappropriate actions. We aim to deter, observe and report.

Responsibilities

  • Protect client property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Look for signs of crime/disorder and investigate disturbances
  • Presence to deter criminal or illegal activities
  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
  • Report any suspicious incidents, work with law enforcement and first responders when required
  • Patrol buildings and perimeters
  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates

Genesis is recruiting for top caliber customer service-oriented staff to work day shifts (0900, 1000 and 1100 hours start time) at Granville Island (a very popular entertainment and tourist spot downtown).

Parking Ambassador / Enforcement Officer (Granville Island)

Payrate: $18 /hr.

A) Ambassador

As Ambassadors / Customer Service representative, you are the “boots on the ground” providing a visible uniformed presence for the area’s businesses and patrons, to assist in matters of safety and crime prevention / reporting. You must possess strong customer service and communication skills, advanced problem solving and solution seeking abilities while remaining calm under pressure.

  • Provide excellent and customer service assistance
  • Assignments from Operations including dispatches, patrols and reporting safety concerns
  • Ability to provide vehicle traffic control in key areas

B) Enforcement

You enforce rules and regulations of parking facilities and parking permits are valid and on display. A large part of enforcement duties is issuing violations for parking infractions and traffic control.

  • Check for payment expiration of daily parkers
  • Provide a presence and report security related issues and concerns
  • Report any meter machine malfunctions

Pre-requisites, Skills and Qualifications:

  • BC Security Guard license
  • Traffic Control permit (will be trained)
  • Extremely self driven and motivated, with great initiative
  • Background in the hospitality industry and or parking enforcement preferred
  • Excellent communication & observation skills and ability to write good reports
  • Pleasant in demeanor, projects a professional and well-groomed image
  • Customer-service focused and a team player
  • Dependable and Committed
  • Comfortable with use of mobile and parking apps and phone technologies
  • Possess high energy levels, and patrol extensively
  • Ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions and be able to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Traffic Control Permit
  • Customer Service

Iconic Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is currently seeking motivated, customer-service oriented individuals to join our team.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure the interior and exterior of the Facility is secure
  • Identify and report any unusual activity or persons in and around the Facility including VCC West retail tenants (exterior), seawall, and Jack Poole Plaza (this includes fire, theft, vandalism, trespassers and accidents
  • Identify and report Facility damage
  • Provide access and escort for Clients, Official and Unofficial Suppliers, and Contractors through Facility spaces as required
  • Provide building lockdown and crowd control during facility related protests as required
  • Monitoring for goods left unattended
  • Check all electrical, mechanical, communication rooms, central plant and sewage treatment plant at minimum once per shift during day and swing shift and twice per shift during graveyard – report anything out of the ordinary (water/oil leaks, smoke etc)
  • Unlock and lock retail washrooms per schedule
  • Cooperate with and assist in the investigation of incidents
  • Act as floor warden during emergency situations

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills including ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as well the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to walk for long periods of time
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid BC Security License
  • Must have high school and or post-secondary education
  • Knowledge of a two-way radio is an asset
