Genesis Security has a background of over 20 years in Special Event Security, providing security plans, access control, event management, and crowd management for every type of event. The event security guard’s duties may change based on the needs of the event or the venue that the event is being hosted at.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the event – make sure rules are being followed and help provide a sense of protection for attendees and staff.
  • Maintain order – this included directing foot traffic, helping lost people, or assisting in disturbances.
  • Escort attendees out of the event – making sure people don’t re-enter when they aren’t supposed to or assisting someone with health problems to a safe area.
  • Make regular reports – guards are responsible for reporting any suspicious activity to their supervisor.

Genesis Security is one of the most renowned providers of special event security services in BC for the past 20 + years. We are currently looking to hire experienced Event Supervisors and highly skilled Event Security Guards with proven conflict management skills.

We are excited to announce events are back and we are now putting together our Supervisor and Senior Event Guard teams who will be our core group of event security staff over the next 2-3 years or more. There will be opportunities to grow with the organization, develop your skills and be a part of the most exciting events the city has to offer.

Payrates and Training:

We want to ensure our core group of event security staff are recognised for their abilities and commitment and that we add value to their development with free training programs and the best pay rates.

Subject to qualifications, skills, and experience pay rates will be:

$21 – $25 hr for Event Security Supervisors

$18 – $20 / hr for Premium Event Security Guards

Training (will include but not limited to):

  • Conflict Management and Evictions
  • Mental Health and De-escalation
  • Event Supervisor Training
  • Leadership and Management
  • Tactical Training (ongoing classes)

Pre-requisites:

  • Proven experience in event security. (2 years minimum)
  • Must have a valid BC Security Licence
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and approachable disposition
  • Excellent customer service approach and ability to de-escalate situations

The iconic Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is currently seeking motivated, customer-service oriented individuals to join our team full time for an on-going event.

You will be working mostly indoors on 12 hour shifts, 4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on and 4 days off in a two week period.

ROTATIONS:

1) Sunday – Tuesday, and alternate Wednesday, 0800-2000 hrs

2) Thursday – Saturday and alternate Wednesday, 0800-2000 hrs

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Access Control and Roving, all the while providing excellent customer service;
  • Ensure that the public are social distancing and following all rules and regulations including COVID protocols.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor
  • Able to walk / stand for long periods of time
