Responsibilities

Iconic Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is currently seeking motivated, customer-service oriented and OFA2-certified individuals to join our team.

ROTATIONS:

– Saturday and Sunday, 1500 to 2315 hours; or

– Saturday, 0700 to 1500 hours

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor First Aid calls and assess treatment as required
  • Maintain First Aid supplies including emergency kits, oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, and first aid supplies
  • Monitor OFA email and prepare relevant paperwork as required
  • Ensure the interior and exterior of the Facility is secure
  • Identify and report any unusual activity or persons
  • Identify and report Facility damage
  • Provide access and escort for Clients, Official and Unofficial Suppliers, and Contractors through Facility spaces as required
  • Provide building lockdown and crowd control during facility related protests as required
  • Monitoring for goods left unattended
  • Unlock and lock retail washrooms per schedule
  • Act as floor warden during emergency situations

COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to walk for long periods of time
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid BC Security License
  • Minimum post-secondary education
  • First Aid Certification OFA Level 2

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction and supervision for Security Staff including delivering briefings, deployment, and break relief coordination.
  • Provide leadership to Event Security staff in the absence of Event Supervisors
  • Oversee building integrity and condition including door security, signage, stanchion, and damage
  • Lead by example and ensure all employees are following Vancouver Convention Centre policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines
  • Ensure all reports, including shift supervisor reports and incident/first aid reports are completed and forwarded as per policy

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills including ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions; good writing skills are also required
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as well the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Able to walk for long periods of time
  • Working knowledge of the Ungerboeck Event Business Management Systems (EBMS) is an asset

Genesis Security is recruiting for FT or PT Enforcement Security Guards (morning to afternoon shifts) working in downtown Vancouver, paying $19.50 / hr to start, $20.91 / hr once confirmed, for a premium client. Applicants cannot be on student visas.

Rotation: Mornings to afternoons; afternoons to evenings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Enforce rules and regulations of parking facilities and ensure dashboard tickets and parking permits are valid and on display. A large part of enforcement duties is issuing violations for parking infractions.

  • Checking expiration of parking tickets displayed and parking permits/hang tags in vehicles
  • Providing a security presence and report any security related issues and concerns
  • Report any machine malfunctions back to Operations

Pre-requisites, Skills and Qualifications:

  • BC Security Guard Licence
  • Class 5 Driver’s licence with clean abstract
  • Parking Enforcement experience preferred
  • Extremely self driven and motivated, with great initiative and intuition
  • Excellent communication & observation skills and ability to write good reports
  • Punctuality, attention to detail and self discipline are givens

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Valid BC Security Licence 
  • Minimum 6 month’s security experience preferably working at tough sites e.g. in DTE Vancouver. 
  • Speak, read and write fluent English, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A lot of comprehensive and well written reports are required for every shift. 
  • Physically fit to patrol long distances continuously and climb a multitude of stairs as well as conduct regular evictions of trespassers. 
  • Pleasant in demeanor and project a professional and well-groomed image.

  • Positive and outgoing personality, a self-starter with high initiative.

Mobile Security Guard

Genesis Security is seeking an experienced Mobile Supervisor to lead our rapidly growing Mobile Team and expanding fleet of vehicles.

Rotation: 5 days a week, 1600 to 0000 hours, days of week TBC

Duties and responsibilities:

Assist the Mobile Fleet Manager in

  • Managing the Mobile fleet & team – training & orientation, scheduling, performance, attendance, punctuality etc. Ensure all mobile shifts are filled.
  • The maintenance and upkeep of Genesis fleet of cars, keys, reports, phones, charger, First Aid kits, driver’s abstracts, etc
  • Ensuring vehicle inspections and key audits are done at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Managing the mobile clients with the Account Managers, assessing and re-designing routes and schedules for the mobile runs semi-annually or more regularly when required
  • Conducting supervisor site inspections on a predefined / arbitrary schedules
  • Issuing documentation regarding guard performance and escalate any issues
  • Supporting mobile guards in their patrols as outlined by run sheets and time windows (time sensitive)
  • Responding to alarms if dispatched
  • Grounding vehicle and assisting site guards when required.
  • Assisting management & HR in the selection of new mobile guards and ensure training is provided to ensure their success.

In addition, you will
