10 years of Free 24/7 Community Patrol Program
On May 25th, 2015 Genesis Security celebrated the tenth anniversary of its Community Patrol Program with the 18th Annual Salmonberry Community Fair with live entertainment, family fun activities and the community of the west side. We had continuously built and developed a program of free community patrol. What started in the 25 blocks between West Boulevard and Dunbar, 33rd and 49th Avenue in Kerrisdale, has since grown to cover the west side of Vancouver.
How does it work?
In 2005, Genesis Security started Canada’s first free community patrol program in Kerrisdale, and has continuously grown the program since. Three years after the start, the program size had tripled, now, after ten years, size has fittingly increased by ten, to cover all businesses and residences between UBC and Granville Street (see map for details). In November 2014, Genesis Security’s fleet of patrol vehicles was entirely renewed in order to enhance visibility, and thus reinforce our role in prevention. Furthermore, Genesis acquired eco-friendly hybrid electric/gas vehicles in a move aimed at reducing pollutant emissions on the streets of our communities.
We work closely with the Kerrisdale Oakridge Marpole Community Policing Centre (KOM CPC) & Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
